Richard
- Baritone
Richard's
singing career started with the church choir and progressed to lead
singer with a pop group called The Classics in the late 1960s.
He discovered barbershop in 1991 and attended his first convention in
Bournemouth that year where the American guest quartets were Acoustix
and Gas House Gang! After that he was totally hooked.
As well as being a member of The Royal Harmonics a cappella chorus, he
sings with Woking Amateur Operatic Society, and New Starlights - a
mixed group which performs to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
He previously sang baritone with two other quartets called Sharp
Practice and Equinox.
Richard worked as a cost accountant and wine merchant before setting up
in business as a driving instructor. When the opportunity arose he
opted for very (he said) early retirement, much to the relief of his
frazzled nerves. He now devotes his time almost solely to music.
